japanese horror movies: are they much scarier than hollywood horror movies?
i've watched so many horror movies. i've always loved watching movies that pique my curiositly. especially those that seem like they may happen in real life.but when the Japanese Horror movies came out a few years ago, i started getting really scared. after having watched "the ring," i was so afraid of wells and switched-off televisions!and then there was "grudge" and "the eye" and a lot of other Japanese Horror movies came out. very scary.many of my friends say that these japanese movies are a lot better than hollywood ghost horror movies. they say hollywood movies usually just startle you, but you're no longer afraid after the movie is over. the japanese movies, on the other hand, tend to stay with you a little longer.do you also believe this is the case? if so, why do you think the japanese are much better at horror movies?
Do you know any japanese horror story?
There are several interesting horror stories from japan which I have watched. What about you? Do you have any japanese horror story to share? Please feel free to post here.
What japanese horror movie did you like?
I just watched the grudge 2 and I was really impressed to see how some of those japanese movie makers knows how to treat the camera, well I had a great time and I want more. What japanese directors or movies did you like?
do you find japanese horror movies creepy???
i really find it so scary whenever i watch japanese horror movies,,, even though i cannot understand what they are saying,,, i prefer it than the english one... i can really feel the emotions in the japanese one... do you think the same way like mine?
japanese horror movies...
they are really good and very scary to watch.. i have watched the movie the in and dark water... God! its good! how about you? have you watched any japanese horor movie?
The scariest movie
Which one is more scariest movies, Hollywood movie or Japanese movie like Ring-O
Of all horror movies, which one REALLY scared you?
Tell us which movie scared the living doodie out of ya, and tell us how reacted after watching it.....this should be really fun.
Do you watch movies with subtitles? Do you have a favorite foreign film?
I realize to people say in China or France that an American or English film IS a foreign film. But I was thinking about the English speaking countries mainly. I rentedPan's Labyrinth on Monday and watched it that night. It had won a few Oscars last year, and it looked intriguing. It was in Spanish, but I didn't really care if it had subtitles. Pretty soon I never really even thought about the fact that the movie was in a different language. I was deeply touched by that movie, and was glad I didn't let the fact that it was a foreign film deter me from watching it. Do you have a favorite foreign film or movie in a different language besides your own? Do you ever even watch them? Some people find it frustrating to have to read the words while trying to watch the film I guess. My sister's favorite isCrouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.
Dark Water (water, women and black hair)
Has anyone seen Dark Water? staring one of my fav actresses Jennifer Connelly. the film didn't do well like it's other Japanese cousins, but it was chilling and thrilling toll the end...I'm wondering WHY most Japanese horror flicks are based on single women with children, water and long black hair? the ring, the grudge and this one?? Is it some kind of scary fairy tale thing?
Horror films, which type do you find scariest?
Which type of horror films do you tend to find scarier? The gruesome american ones with lots of blood and monsters? or the east asian - in particular japanese - films which use more of a realistic sense of fear - creating an atmosphere that could haunt you when you're alone in the semi-darkness.The reason im asking this is: an english mate of mine found zombie movies like dawn of the dead scary, but not japanese directed movies like the grudge (the hollywood one was directed by a japanese so is essentially east asian in style) or the ring. I did not find any dawn of the dead, chainsaw massacre or movies like that scary at all, but about a day after watching the grudge - i kept getting freaked out when hearing noises in my roof and when i saw the back of my mum's black, asian hair (which looked like that of the grudge). and also, after the ring, i found it hard to look at the reflection of a television that wasn't turned on - we have three in our house).
